Abstract:
Recurrent tonsillitis is one of common upper respiratory tract infection in Sudanese among preschool and school children and also adult people. Microalbuminuria and creatinine are tests which done to predict and monitor the kidney diseases. The aim of this study to assess microalbuminuria and serum creatinine in patient with recurrent tonsillitis, it was case control study carried out in Nose and Throat Hospital Wad Medani City, Gezira state, Sudan from August2020 to June 2021and included 50 Sudanese subjects, 30 of them were patients with recurrent tonsillitis and 20 were healthy individuals as controls. The age of patients ranged between (5–35) Years. 15 patients (50%) were >12 Years and 15 (50%) were <12 Years. Spot urine sample collected in dry clean container to measure microalbuminuria by used I Chroma apparatus and blood samples were collected in plan containers and then serum separated and used in estimate creatinine by using biosystem A25 and estimate ASO titer by using I Chroma apparatus. Data was analysed using statistical package for social science (SPSS) computer program Version (22). Results showed that mean ± SD of microalbuminuria level in case group (12.70 ± 5.70) compared to control group mean ± SD (11.70 ± 3.30) with p.value (0.59), showed no significant variation in serum Creatinine in case group mean ± SD (0.37± 0.13) compared to control mean ± SD (0.32± 0.14) with p.value (0.36). also there was significant increase ASO titter among cases group mean ± SD (354.13± 122.27) compared to controls group mean ± SD (22.95± 0.99) with p.value (0.00) .Study concluded that there was no differ in microalbuminuria and serum creatinine levels in patients with recurrent tonsillitis and healthy individual, and non- significant correlation in microalbuminuria and duration and frequency attack of disease. Study recommended more studies including large sample size and measure other parameter such as cystatin C, and data of patient must be registered in forms that contain more details like history and treatments. Study must include immunological tests, measure of IgA titre.
