dc.description.abstract Tuberculosis is a chronic necrotizing granulomatous disease caused by the acid-fast bacillus Mycobacterium tuberculosis . this is cross sectional. Study was conducted in kasaala teaching hospital in period from June to November 2017 include both sex and years between (15-65) ,aimed to detected the cytomorpholgical feature in sputum of tuberculosis patients , eighty sputum sample were collected and perpetrated then stained by Papanicolaou stain and zn stain , data was collected and analyzed by spss variation 15 . Result show : the cytological atypia found in 65 patients ,in 33 form 42 males(52 .5%) and 32 form 38 females (47.5),and cytological inflammation found in all patients divided to chronic inflammation found in 59 patients 33 males (55.9%),26 females(44.1%), and acute inflammation found in 21 patients 9 males (42.9%), and in 12 females (57.1%), there was no relation between age , sex ,and cytomorpholgical change p .value (0.23).The study concludes that tuberculosis patients are associated with cytological changes in the lung the epithelial cellular atypia and inflammation, combination between atypia and inflammation were found in the most of study population ,cytological inflammation increase in chronic inflammation rather than acute inflammation, cytological atypia increase in mild atypia more than other type of atypia ,sputum cytological is simple ,non invasive, inexpensive technique should be done for regular flow up of the patients to determine the cytological feature ,education programs for health and tubercles people to risk of tuberculosis disease, make cytological programs for follow up tubercles patients with or after treatment in all laboratory hospital in Sudan ,furthers studies including multi drug resistance patients should be done to confirm these result with use advance technique for cytological feature. en_US
