dc.description.abstract Family planning is the conscious action taken by an individuals or couples to regulate the number and spacing of their children in accordance with their personal preferences . ‘Every man and woman has the right to be informed of, and to have access to safe, effective, affordable and acceptable methods of fertility regulation of their choice, and the right of access to appropriate health care services that will enable women to go safely through pregnancy and childbirth as well as provide couples with the best chance of having a healthy infant The aim of the study was to investigate the family planning knowledge, attitudes, and practices among married women in reproductive age.’ in Talha wad Teraify health center, Gezira state - Sudan. A cross-sectional study using a quantitative approach was carried out from January to march 2016 among 120women –community based study, depending on systemic randomized sample, the results showed that: 75% of married female in reproductive age group use F.P, the most common method used was c. pill, 40% of methods used, then 32.5% Breast feeding, 4.3% IUCD, 3.3% safe period and 8% implant. 25% was not using family planning, 55% of them will use contraception in the future, and 45% are not going to use C.P the in future. The main reasons of not using contraception were: fear of side effects about 45.5%, then 5.8% did not believe in contraception, and want more children. The main reasons of using contraception were : to promote her health and her child health 56.6%, due to low income 10.8%, due to their work .Conclusion : Knowledge about family planning was good , 91% were known F.P and most commonly used method is oral contraceptive pills (40%) . the most known methods were oral contraceptive pills followed by IUCD then implant. en_US
