dc.description.abstract DIABETES MELLITUS (DM) is a syndrome of chronic hyperglycaemia due to relative insulin deficiency, resistance or both. It affects about 366 million people worldwide, and it is estimated that it will affect 552 million by the year 2030.This study aims to assess the prevalence of cardiac complication in diabetic patients and examines some variables that can be risk factors. 98 diabetes patients recorded in Elmazad health center during the period (2010-2013). The data obtained from questionnaire and medical reports. The results showed that 24.7% was coronary arties disease (Angina, myocardial infarction), 3.15% was heart failure and 1%was Arrhythmia. The associated risk factor were Age, body mass, duration and type of diabetes, smoking, hypertension, Family history of diabetes , cardiac diseasedyslipiaemia for cardiac complication in diabetic patient, dyslipidaemia (lipid profile) LDL >100 andHDL>120,and opinion of patient about services in center was average (57.1%).Cardiac complication among diabetic patients was 28.6% .24.7was coronary arteries disease (Angina, Myocardial infarction).and Heart failure 3.1. Arrhythmia was 1%.Risk factor smoking, hypertonic, duration, old age (40-60) , family history of cardiac disease and family history of diabetic were statistically significant.But thedyslipidemia was not statistically significant; over weightobese body mass index also was statistically significant.Type of diabetic was statistically significant, the risk factors for cardiac complications among diabetic patients should be investigated and catered for health education, counseling should be conducted for diabetic patient to control modified risk factor,and Furthersinventionstudiesshould be conducted to reduce the cardiac complication. en_US
