dc.description.abstract Mosquitoes are vectors of malaria and some other endemic diseases in the world. Many different methods can be applied to control mosquitoes. This study aimed to assess (in field experiments) the larvicidal activities of the neem leaves and usher leaves and latex on mosquito larvae (Anopheles and Culex). The selected natural products were collected from Wad Medani locality, and then prepared and applied against mosquitoes larvae at the breeding sites of three areas; Tyba village, 17 km North West Wad Medani, Karkog village, 15 km North West Wad Medani and Barakat village, 9 km southern Wad Medani. This study was carried out during winter (November) 2011. ANOVA and correlation analysis were done using Microsoft office Excel 2007. The results of this study showed that, the concentrations 1.7, 0.6, and 0.17 mg/L of water of Neem leaves have potential effects only on the Anopheles larvae, while the concentrations 0.3, 0.75, and 0.17ml/L of Usher latex have the potential effects on both Anopheles and Culex larvae. The concentrations 0.8, 0.5, and 0.36 mg/L of Usher leaves have moderate effects on both Anopheles and Culex larvae. The three tested products were found to be highly effective during the first day of application. Further studies should be conducted to determine the proper way of application and to investigate the mode of action of these products. en_US
