dc.description.abstract Disability is a problem afflicting human society, but vary in size and degree of spread and intensity according to several factors , linked to patterns of life and social practices in these communities . So that the disability may be congenital born with the individual , may be caused by an accident suffered by the individual in stage of his life, may be linked to satisfactory reasons , like old ages, or any other reasons . Disability is one of the most important problems that stand between individual and enjoyment of the normal life. The cause in isolation from society, and limit interaction with it , which in turn is reflected on the deprivation of the enjoyment of the fruits of the development process in his country, Research methodology relied on the use of Excel program to estimate the disability statistics before and after the separation of Sudan. This research aims to assess the disabled status in the light of the analysis of the latest data provided by the 2008 census. It aimed at three main axes: protection and rehabilitation and equalization of opportunities, to highlight on the disabled situation in Sudan and to identify the criteria and principles used in the measurement of disability. In addition to the concepts of disability, which provide especial attention for removing barriers, even the disabled can participate better , and equally in social life and development. The most important results that the number of disabled people before separation 1,854,985 about 4.8%, and after separation about 1,602,111 about 5.19% of the total population. One of the main recommendations of the research enable Specialists statistical devices and official institutions other relevant , the use of modern methodologies and universally used and approved by the United Nations organizations specialized in this field, especially taking using questions of Washington group to disability statistics, and standardization of methodologies in the Arab countries, including serving comparison between the Arab countries and other. And to allow for the preparation of comprehensive reports on the Arab and international situation for disabled. en_US
