dc.description.abstract Education is a form of learning in which the knowledge, skills, and habits of a group of people are transferred from one generation to the next through teaching, training, or research . This study was conducted to assess the general education in the Gezira state,.The study depend on secondary data, including kindergartens , children , schools , pupils , students and teachers data recorded by Department of Statistics and Educational planning in Ministry of Education in the Gezira state during the period from (2002-2003 to 2013-2014 ) and population projections Sudan ( 2009-2028 ) The analysis showed that the kindergarten have increased from 3 % in ( 2001-2002 ) to 45 % in ( 2013-2014) . also it showed that the number of female is greater than the number of male and the teachers numbers have increased in average there are 21 children per teacher. also showed that the overall enrolment rate raised from 44 % In (2009-(2010 ) to 62 % in ( 2013-2014 ) and the female enrolment rate is higher than male .In primary education it regarded that female schools are more than male schools and co-education schools are more than both and there was an increases in the number of school during that period and We saw that the number of pupils per teacher in average was 27 pupils per teacher in general we saw that the male enrolment were higher than female .In secondary education inthe period from (2001-2002 ) to (2013-2014) . In secondary Education the study showed that female schoolsare greater than male schools and co –education schools are greater than both . also we saw vocational education has very lesser schools in thestateit represent in average 3 percent for that period .In general it showed that the average increase in ratio is 8 percent and the higher increase ratio is 38 percent in (2013-2014 ) in the number of schools . Also it showed that in secondary education the female teachers are greater than male teachers , and there were 16 pupils per teacher and the male teacher has decreased.The number of female pupils are greater than male pupils and the number of pupils has increased during that period . The average increase in ratio is 7 % for male , 6 % for female and the over all average increase in is 7 % for that period and the enrolment rate in average was 49 % for male and female .
