dc.description.abstract The study tackled the problems of reading skills which face the learners of English language at secondary level schools. Reading skills are very important and have great affects on the other language skills so the researcher studied them carefully to find solutions for the problems which face secondary schools students. The study is planned to achieve certain objectives. Firstly, to identify the roles of teachers in dealing with text, passages and supplementary books. Secondly, to Investigate the promotion of reading skills as a main objective and Provide the learners and teachers with the techniques and strategies of reading skills. The researcher adopted the descriptive analytical method. The sample for the study was chosen randomly. The researcher used a questionnaire distributed to fifty English language teachers. The data analyzed by SPSS program, the researcher comes out with following findings: firstly, teaching and learning through reading skill lead to the improvement of students' performance of a language. Secondly, Students have a weak standard in the English language. Thirdly, there is no regular use of reading skills techniques in EFL classes. The researcher comes out with following recommendations; Teachers should be patient with their students so as to train them to practice all types of reading skills. The course book should include various activities for reading. Syllabus designers should pay attention to time to teach reading skills and finish their curriculum. en_US
